The Good, The Bad And The Scary
Here’s the truth behind ingredients used in JOHNSON’S® products.
Our main priority is doing what’s best for babies. So, we would never put anything in our products that could harm them.
We understand that the long list of ingredients on the back of our bottles can be confusing and scary. As we are legally required to follow INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) guidelines, some relatively simple (and good) ingredients sound more complicated than they actually are.
For example, good ol’ coconut oil needs to be labelled as ‘lauric acid’.
Meet Our New Peace-of-Mind Formula
No more Parabens & Phthalates
Parabens are preservatives which prevent dangerous bacteria from growing. Although they aren’t harmful, we’ve replaced them with alternative preservatives.
Parabens occur naturally in mangoes, blueberries and honey.
Low-weight phthalates are common in personal care products and boast of a strong safety record. However, to reassure moms that we value their opinion, all our baby products worldwide are now phthalate-free.
We Heard You And Moved On From Quaternium-15
This preservative releases a tiny amount of methylene glycol, which is also found naturally in fruits and vegetables. In fact, a person’s exposure to formaldehyde in 1 apple is greater than 15 bottles of JOHNSON’S® baby shampoo.
But, hey! We know your concerns and have removed this ingredient from all of our products, replacing it with an alternative preservative system.
1,4-Dioxane Helps Make Our Cleansers Mild
1,4-Dioxane is a byproduct of a process that safely makes our cleansers mild. It may sound like a chemical compound, but actually it is also found naturally in tomatoes and coffee.
We have reformulated our baby products and through research we were able to lower the levels while still keeping our products mild.
No More Tears For Baby
No More Worry For Mommy
We absolutely do not use any numbing agents in our products. That’s the only reason why we can make the claim "NO MORE TEARS®"
WE LOVE ANIMALS AS MUCH AS WE LOVE BABIES
As a rule, JOHNSON’S® does not test on animals. We’re proud to say that all our personal care and cosmetic products are cruelty-free.
